With her background and experience in criminal law, Gurjit was afforded the opportunity of working on the Air India trial, the biggest criminal case in Canadian history.

Upon completing her term with Air India, Gurjit returned to Cobb St. Pierre Lewis, where she continued to apply her passion for defending those facing criminal charges, building a reputation for successfully challenging impaired driving offenses.  Gurjit has worked as co-counsel and junior counsel with some of the top criminal lawyers in British Columbia.

Gurjit brings to her practise both the practical and intuitive perspective in criminal law gained from her previous position as an ad hoc federal crown prosecutor with the Department of Justice.

Her main areas of practice are Criminal and Family Law.  She has experience at the Provincial Court, Supreme Court of British Columbia and Appeal Court levels.  She is an avid advocate for addressing and protecting the needs and interests of both parents and children in family matters.  Gurjit has been recognized by the Canadian Bar Association for her generous contribution of time and expertise to the Lawyer Referral Service.

Gurjit enjoys listening to music, dancing, spending time with her family, and cooking.

In 2006, Gurjit and Ellora H. Sandhu, lifelong friends, were presented with the opportunity to fulfill their dream of working together to protect the legal interests of their clients with the inception of Sandhu Tiwana & Associates. Sadly, Ellora passed away in April 2013.

In January 2014 Rajdeep S. Deol and Jason Sandhu joined Gurjit at Sandhu Tiwana & Associates.  This collaboration led to the founding of TDS lawyers, Tiwana Deol Sandhu LLP.
